On July 7, 2021, Healthscope, one of Australia`s leading private hospital operators, entered into an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) with its employees. The agreement, which covers around 7,000 employees across 43 hospitals in Australia, is set to run for three years and includes a range of improved benefits and conditions for workers.

One of the key changes that the EBA Agreement Healthscope brings is an increase in pay for employees. Under the agreement, workers will receive a 2.5% pay rise each year, starting from July 2021. This increase is in line with current inflation rates and is designed to help support workers with the rising cost of living.

The EBA also includes enhanced leave entitlements for workers, including an additional five days of personal leave per year and a new domestic and family violence leave policy. The agreement also includes a new classification system for employees, which will see a fairer and more transparent salary structure for workers.

In addition to these benefits, the EBA Agreement Healthscope also includes provisions for professional development and training for staff. Healthscope has committed to investing in its workforce and will provide opportunities for employees to further their education and develop new skills.

The new agreement has been welcomed by Healthscope employees and the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). Sally McManus, the Secretary of the ACTU, praised the agreement, stating that “Healthscope workers have fought hard for better pay and conditions, and this agreement is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”

The EBA Agreement Healthscope is an important development for workers in the private healthcare industry in Australia. It represents a significant step forward in ensuring that employees are fairly compensated and have access to the benefits and conditions that they deserve. As the healthcare industry continues to face challenges, it is important that companies like Healthscope are committed to investing in their workforce and creating positive working environments for all employees.
